I got word about the success of last night’s benefit concert for the Downtown LA 24th Street Theater from John Konesky, lead guitarist for Tenacious D, who shared this back stage photo taken at the show last night:

The Nokia Theater hosted the comedic/ music entertainment line up of Tenacious D, Nasty Delicious (Craig Robinson’s band), and comedian Nick Swardson for a fund raising show to benefit the 12 year old theater and arts education forum for which Jack Black sits on the advisory board. (Tickets: $50.00 to $150.00 a seat.)
24th Street Theater recently lost their funding, and this was a way to bring money into the theater so that they can continue their community efforts.
The survival of the Arts are largely determined by the generous hand outs of people who give by their own choice and their own resources.
Tenacious D, Nasty Delicious, and Nick Swardson get the big, “YOU ROCK.”
OFFICIAL RANT for TODAY:
Our current climate of trillion dollar bail outs of failed companies and tax dollar bonuses for unethical banking policies should be re-examined.
Today’s Fact for the Innumerate:
If 1 dollar = 1 second:
Then 1 million dollars = 11 1/2 DAYS
And, 1 billion dollars = 31 YEARS
–Think about it.
Life without failed CEOs (who put their business in the negative zero about a billion times) will create other opportunities.
Life without music, art, performance and comedy just plainly SUCKS! There is no excuse to live life without the free thought associated with creativity.

Buy a small piece of art or craft at a street fair or local gallery.
